A Room with a View

“A Room with a View” | 2,50 x 2,50 x 5mtr | Spraypaint and acrylic on wood
“Ibug 2018” Festival for Urban Art and Culture Chemnitz, GER | 2018
The installation “A Room with a View” takes up the existing ailing structures, decay, peeled colors and wallpaper in the room and uses them as a predetermined grid to abstract the painting and installation elements, in this case the letters B A S E to integrate playfully, to create an irritation within the room and to dissolve the original form. It seems as if the three-dimensional elements between the wallpapers break out and the painterly integration of the structures of the chipped paint raises the question of whether the painting has existed for decades or was made afterwards.
“A Room with a View stands for civilization and all its confinements; a view stands for nature, freedom, and the open air. A Room with a View means a life that is free and open to adventure and possibility, one that is not too closely confined by the strictures of society.”
E. M. Forster, 1908
